“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
― Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities
To Paraphrase- 2020 was a very mixed bag.
Alaska Kennel Club had to cancel their March Shows and the June Shows. In addition, the June Show is normally when the Alaskans hold an American Chesapeake Club Supported Entry, so we lost that as well. The Memorial Day 4 show cluster with the Tanana Valley Kennel Club in Fairbanks, was also canceled. So that was 1/2 of our Alaska Shows.
The brave souls with the Kenai Kennel Club pulled off the first cluster of “Covid Shows” in Soldotna, AK in mid-July. They did an amazing job charting the waters for not just Alaskans, but everyone who was figuring out how to manage all of this. Juggling Judes, Competitors, and Vendors, they pulled it off.
Then the Cook Inlet Kennel Club and several Specialty and Breed Clubs pulled off a 3-day cluster in Palmer, AK at the end of July. They had to deal with changing Quarantine and testing requirements but still managed to pull it off.
So, with only 8 shows in Alaska in 2020- Lacy (GCHS CH Spinnakers Eska Creek IceMaiden RA CGC ) finished as #11 Chesapeake in All Breed, and #14 for CBR’s in Breed Standings, and #14 in Grand Champion Pts standings. BOB in All 8 shows, with 2 Group 2, and 1 Group 3.
Lacy’s Daughter “Duckee” (Eska Creek’s YouRe The One, owned by Nelson Pope, and Lisa Kress-Pope) Was awarded a NOHS BIS at the Bonneville Kennel Association Show on September 12, and was ranked at #3 Owner handled Chesapeake.
Littermate “Dicca” (CH Eska Creek-Spinnaker’s Boudicca Queen Of The North RN FDC CGC) finished her Championship Title, completed Rally Novice, CGC, and Farm Dog Titles.
